Last week, we had a great meeting with our advisory board and presented some of our exciting opportunities and strategies to them. One of our board members gave us the feedback that it was hard to know which choices were the best ones without better understanding our long-term vision. As a result, I am working on updating an AP 2020 vision to share with everyone on the team and our advisers. It’s exciting to write and I believe it will guide us to make better decisions and evaluate opportunities with the end (long term) in mind.
“Begin with the end in mind” is one of the seven habits that the late Steven Covey associates with highly effective people.
The complete list, which you can learn about in more detail in his best-selling book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, is:
1. Be Proactive
2. Begin With The End in Mind
3. Put First Things First
4. Think Win-Win
5. Seek First To Understand, Then To Be Understood
6. Synergize (To put it simply, synergy means “two heads are better than one.” Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation)
7. Sharpen The Saw (Sharpen the Saw means having a balanced program for self-renewal in the four areas of your life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual.)
I think these are great reminders for us all and many people have credited this book with changing their lives for the better.
Have a great weekend!
